Last week, Walmart reportedly cancelled Zelda Switch 2 pre-orders a day before the launch after it “oversold” the consoles.
In an replace, the retailer is apparently giving out vouchers in response to the upset these cancellations have induced. As highlighted by Polygon, some clients are now supposedly being compensated with “$519 gift cards”.
Here’s the e mail response clients are receiving from Walmart (confirmed by Low-costAssGamer.com):
We know you were trying ahead to your preorder of Nintendo Switch 2 Legend of Zelda, and we sincerely apologize that we canceled your pre-order. This was our mistake.
To show our appreciation for you as a Walmart buyer and help make up for the canceled order, we’re sending you a Walmart eGift Card for $519.99. You’ll obtain this present card via e mail within 10 business days.
Again, we’re sorry for the mistake. Thank you for being a Walmart buyer. We look ahead to serving you again soon.
According to the same story, these clients are also being given the probability to reorder the Zelda-themed Switch 2, which “essentially grants what sounds like a free Switch 2”.
Based on some other buyer tales online, Walmart may also be offering “one or the other”, where the buyer gets to either reorder the restricted version system or can get a present card matching the value of this unit.
There’s also hypothesis that this offer from Walmart is “too good to be true” and the e mail from “[email protected]” could really be an “error”.
