Sega has revealed the Blue Blur is getting a brand new 3D action-platformer called Sonic Dream Team, the only catch is it’s an Apple Arcade exclusive.
Sonic Dream Team will launch on 5th December 2023, and will see Sonic and friends race across 12 levels and four worlds to stop Dr Eggman’s bizarre dreams from coming true. Apart from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, Rouge the Bat and Cream the Rabbit will also be making a return as playable characters.
Dream Team is expected to stay exclusive in the foreseeable future. Although Apple Arcade exclusives have been released on other platforms in the past, as highlighted by Sonic Stadium, there’s not the best track record when it comes to Sega titles on Apple devices – with games like HARDLight’s Sonic Racing and Chu Chu Rocket! Universe (which is now out of action) restricted to this platform.
In saying this, a Sega brand ambassador claims this exclusivity deal “only prevents the release on other mobile platforms” such as Android, and does not include console and PC. Right now though, this is definitely locked in as an “Apple Arcade” exclusive, so you’re going to need to sign up to Apple’s subscription service if you want to play it.
